Rampurhat; November 28: The famous kite festival of Rampurhat started yesterday. The local MLA Durjoy Datta came as a chief guest for the inauguration of this year’s festival. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony through his hand, the first kite of this year flew into the sky.
From the year 1992, the Rampurhat All Village Organization organises The kite Festival all the great Banyan ground of Rampurhat. According to one of the members of the organising authority, the history of Rampurhat is connected with this kite. Unlike every other year a flower and kite exhibition was organised as well besides the great show of the sky.
Many old patterns of kite making, kite fabric etc were showcased in that exhibition. Besides this, old generation styles of gardening was also showcased in the exhibition. The program will continue till 3 days. On the first two days kite flying competition will be held on the ground.
On the very last day, all kites will rule the sky with free wings. More than a hundred participants have enlisted their name from different villages. The ministry of culture for the state has recognised this festival as one of the very important heritages of Bengal.

Kite Festival Organised by Konnagar Yubak Sangha

Konnagar; January 24: The Konnagar yubak Sangha organised a kite festival for the very first time. Yesterday festival took place on the Durga Puja ground of Konnagar town. The local MLA Surendra Banerjee came for the opening of the festival at about 8:30 in the morning. From 9 a.m. the first kite flew on the sky from the festival ground.
After that, hundreds of other kites made the sky so colourful that one could have ever imagined. The chairman of the organising committee have said that they got the inspiration to organise this festival from the Chandannagar yearly kite Festival. The first half of the festival continued for 3 hours and then a beautiful cultural program started.
In that program a historian named Nirmal Banerjee delivered a short speech describing the heritage and history of kite flying in India. He also mentioned that it is very important to save the culture of the land and that’s why this festival is too significant for the time.
After his speech, beautiful music and dance were performed on the stage. A short drama depicting the tradition of the kite Festival was also staged in that program. The whole day was full of culture and tradition in Konnagar.

Kite Festival Organised on the Occasion of Jagadhatri Puja in Chandannagar

Chandannagar; November 26: Like all other years kite Festival was organised in Chandannagar on the occasion of Jagadhatri Puja. In this Puja, the decoration of light in Chandanagar is very famous among the people of the entire Bengal. Besides that, The yearly kite Festival is also famous along with international recognition.
It is basically a competition of flying kites on the last day of Jagadhatri Puja. This kite Festival got international recognition in the year 2011. People from different corners of the state come to participate in the program. The festival is now so famous that people can enlist their name even through an online portal. On November 25th, this year’s kite festival started from 8:30 a.m. and continued for 3 hours.
Then by 2:30 p.m. the second half of the competition began. The challenge was to stick on the sky by defeating all other kites to become the winner. This year one participant team of Bardhaman was declared as the winner and they were awarded with a trophy by the famous singer Raghab Chatterjee.
He was present as a chief guest on the last day festival of Jagadhatri Puja. A beautiful atmosphere of joy and colour was created at the kite Festival of chandanagar.

West Bengal Government Organised State Kite Festival

Central Park; February 22: Following the ongoing trend of the festival of kites, the West Bengal ministry of culture organised a kite Festival as well yesterday. The Central Park, Salt Lake was chosen as the venue for the festival. The minister of culture for the state Mr Swapan Dasgupta came for the inauguration.
He flew the first diet of the day and thus the festival started. Many participants from the entire state enlisted their name to participate in the festival. With their amazing efficiency, the sky of Kolkata became so colourful that the people of the city have hardly seen. The secretary for the ministry of culture Mr Jayanta Roy said that kite flying is an old tradition as well as a heritage of Bengal.
So the government is determined to preserve this heritage. A cultural program was also organised by the government in the evening along with a beautiful exhibition depicting all the heritages of Bengal.
Renowned artists like Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta, Raghab Chatterjee, Monomoy Bhattacharya participated in the program. The education minister for the state honorable Mr Partha Banerjee was also present as the representative of the government in the program.
