The Process To Make Mango Pickle (Savoury)

Mango pickle is a side dish that is made and eaten in every household in India. It is prepared in the following way. First, raw mangoes, salt, mustard oil and spices like red chilli powder, turmeric powder, fennel, fenugreek and mustard seeds are bought from the market.

Then each mango is cut into 6 to 8 pieces. After that, a glass jar is sterilised and thoroughly dried. Then the mango pieces are put into the jar along with salt and mixed well. After that, the jar is kept in the sun for a week. Then the spices are mixed in a separate bowl. After that, water is drained from the mangoes and the spice mixture is added to the jar. Then mustard oil is heated in a saucepan.

After that, it is cooled completely and poured into the pickle jar. Then the contents of the jar are stirred and the jar is put in the sun for two weeks. After that, the mango pickle is ready and can be stored.

Points: Buying raw mangoes, salt, jaggery and spices from the market – Cutting the mangoes into cubes – Heating oil in a pan – Adding mustard and fenugreek seeds – Adding mangoes, jaggery, salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder – Mixing – Stirring and cooking until the mixture starts to boil – Turning off the heat – Letting it cool completely – Storing 

The Process To Make Mango Pickle (Sweet)

Mango pickle is a delicious side dish that is eaten by people all around India. It is prepared in the following way. First, raw mangoes, salt, jaggery and spices are bought from the market. Then the mangoes are washed and cut into cubes. After that, a couple of tablespoons of oil are heated in a pan. Then mustard and fenugreek seeds are added to the pan.

After that, once they have cackled, mango pieces, salt, jaggery, turmeric powder and red chilli powder are added to the pan and mixed. Then the mixture is allowed to cook until all the jaggery is melted and the mixture has become syrupy. After that, when the mixture starts to boil, the heat is turned off. Then it is allowed to cool completely. After that, the mango pickle is ready and can be stored in a glass jar for up to 6 months.
