Our cousins all got together and played a variety of games. We even danced and sang songs. My cousins are movie buffs, and during the festival, we binge-watched different genres of movies. We spent most of our time with a bag of popcorn by our sides, enjoying those movies. During the festival, we had a lot of fun talking about our school and friends. Moreover, this Diwali was more like a family reunion.

I hope everything is going well for you. I’m good as well. As you are aware, I am in Lucknow for Diwali. I’m writing to tell you about my first Diwali in Lucknow, which I spent at my grandmother’s house. So, my arrival was fantastic; all of my maternal cousins were waiting for us at the airport. We went to our grandmother’s home, where we were joined by all of my aunts and uncles.
We all bought traditional Indian attire as well as a substantial amount of firecrackers. I was nervous at first because it was my first brush with firecrackers, but I really came to love it. We had a grand Pooja at our house, and then we all enjoyed delicious Indian food and sweets. After that, the elders gave us money. We set aside the money that all of our cousins had wanted to visit Fun Land. We just played Dumb Charades and had a lot of fun bursting firecrackers at night.

Dear friend,
How have you been? I hope everything is perfect with you. However, when are you planning to visit India? How was your Diwali celebration? I hope you were able to enjoy it. Even so, you’ll be pleased to learn about how we spent Diwali this year.
We decided to make a shift this time. We chose not to buy or burst crackers. Rather, we lit hundreds of diyas and candles, creating a spectacular sight! We went to the temple as well, and on our way back, we bought a package full of candy and treats for ourselves and our lovely neighbors.

Dear friend,
I hope you are well when you get this message. I got your letter yesterday, in which you asked about my Diwali celebrations in England. Well, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to celebrate it here because fireworks are illegal to possess in this country, but then all of the presidents of my university begged our vice-chancellor to allow us to do so, even if it was only for two or three hours.
After much pleading and persuasion, she finally gave in, and we began our preparations for Diwali. Then, my friends and I went shopping for some traditional outfits, and on Diwali eve, we dressed up in full cultural attire, complete with heavy Indian jewels.
When we arrived at the venue, we were greeted by loudspeakers blasting the year’s most famous Bollywood tracks. Finally, they launched the largest fireworks display I’ve ever seen. It was breathtaking to see tiny colourful sparks of fire bursting into the sky for a fraction of a second yet providing such a breathtaking view. It was one of my life’s most unforgettable nights.
I’ve even emailed you the photos so you can see what a wonderful event it was. I’m sure you had a great time celebrating in India, and I hope you missed me there as much as I missed you here. Write to me soon about your experience.
