Letters to friends are considered as an example of informal personal letters. Though this type of letters has lost its practical relevance due to the digital revolution, many educational institutions still continue using these kinds of letters to check their students’ English comprehension skills.

So, from an examination point of view, personal letters are still important for students. In this following session, you are going to learn how to write letters to your friend describing your favourite game.

Dear Manna,

It’s been a long time that I haven’t received any letter from you. How are you? You know, I have recently participated in my school’s annual sports event. I am writing this letter today to share my experience of taking part in my favourite game in that sports event.

My favourite game in that sports event is 500 metres running. Every year, I wait for this event only to participate in this 500 metres run. This year, I had fallen sick around a month before this event. But I was determined to participate in my favourite game. I am totally fond of running. When I run on the track, I literally feel that I am flying by leaving everyone behind. Last year, I came in the second position in this game. But this year, I became successful to achieve the first position.

All my teachers and classmates congratulated me after the event. Famous athlete Mr. Suresh Bhargav came to distribute the awards. What’s your favourite game by the way? Let me know in the next letter.

Your dear friend,
Suman

Dear Santosh,

I have just finished reading the last letter you wrote to me. Thank you for congratulating me regarding the man-of-the-match trophy in the cricket tournament. In the letter, you wanted to know why I chose to play cricket over any other games.

Cricket is my favourite game. That’s why I chose to play cricket over any other games. I have been playing cricket since I was a child. Starting from by-lanes to large grounds, I am comfortable playing cricket everywhere. A few years back, I started my cricket coaching at a nearby cricket training centre. I am very thankful to my amazing coach Mr. Manoj Kumar Verma. From my early days, I used to like cricket very much, but Mr. Verma taught me how to fall in love with the game. I can’t imagine my career without cricket. My icon is Virat Kohli. Though I am currently an all-rounder on the field, I want to be a batsman like him in my life.

What do you suggest for me to improve my game? And what is your favourite game by the way? Let me know in your next letter.

Dear Sukrishna,

In the last letter, you wanted to know about my favourite game and my reasons for choosing it. I am writing this letter to let you know about my favourite game.

My favourite game is Chess. I know, it’s completely an indoor game and there’s hardly any physical activity involved with it. But still, I love chess. Because in my opinion, the tactical intelligence you need to play chess, you wouldn’t need anywhere else. And I totally love to utilise my intelligence in chess. But saying this, I don’t want to demean any other game. It’s just my personal opinion.

I have been playing chess since I was a child. Thanks to my father as he enrolled me in the All India Chess Training Federation for my proper training. I have been learning and playing chess at both inter-state and national levels for the last few years. I am fond of having a beautiful wooden chessboard. My icon is Viswanathan Anand. One day, I also want to play chess like him.

Your best friend,
Altaf Hossein

Dear Rehan,

I have just read the letter your brother wrote to me. There he has written that you are being less interested in sports nowadays. I am writing this letter to you to share my opinion about the significance of games in a person’s life and will also talk about my favourite game.

Games are an indispensable part of human life. When we get bored with our monotonous daily life, games provide us with a beautiful feeling of relaxation. Moreover, games also help us to develop our physical and mental health. That’s why games are very important for students.

My favourite game is football. It is totally a physically hyperactive sport. Every time I play football, I feel refreshed. I have been playing football since my childhood. My favourite footballer is Ronaldo. Surely, I don’t want to choose football professionally but I would never stop playing football in my life.

So, you should also choose a game that you would like to play. I am sure, it will help you in your life.

Best wishes and regards,
Sangita

Dear Anandi,

How are you? Today’s letter has a special message for you. I acknowledge your excellence in academics but unfortunately never seen any enthusiasm in sports. So today I thought to share about my favourite game to ignite your interest in any kind of sports

There are plenty of games to choose from them but I find chess the most interesting and appealing. I was introduced to this game by my father at the age of twelve. Nothing can be better than playing chess in my spare time. Chess is not a game but also an exercise for the brain. Chess has influenced my decision-making abilities. One can learn the value of persistence, patience and concentration from playing games It has taught me, how to take the most decisive decision under pressure. I have fondest memories of playing chess with my father. Every Sunday, my father and I had a chess session which induced the energy to work harder for the rest of the week.

I hope this letter has inspired you. Please write to me about the game you started practising after reading this letter. Convey my regards to elders in the family.

Yours Sincerely,
Sameera

Dear Punam,

How are you spending summer vacations? Do you know I have found a new interest this summer vacation? Read the letter to know about it.

I was feeling very bored one summer afternoon and thus picked a newspaper and going through it to kill the time. Suddenly a checkered board image drew my attention. I instantly searched about it on the internet and start solving it. The game is called Sudoku and can be easily picked up. To my surprise the game kept me hooked to it for the entire afternoon.

Now, even if I feel bored, Sudoku is there to accompany me. The game makes my brain feel good. I play the game whenever I get a chance. The best thing about sudoku is you can choose your difficulty level. Currently, I’m at the beginner stage. You can also give it a try.

Dear Soman,

How are you? We all are doing well and hope the same for you. You will be glad to know that following your advice I have started learning football and I am enjoying every moment of learning and playing it.

Football is an extremely popular game that attracts thousands of people across the world. Playing football is my source of refreshment. Since football is a team game it encourages the spirit of comradeship. I am hopeful that the skill of working as a team will help in my future career. Since I have started practising football I have reduced my weight. Nowadays, I feel fit and energetic throughout the day. I am playing as a midfielder. Football has also taught me the life skill to focus on one goal and make one.

I would love to have some tips to become a better footballer. I hope to meet you very soon. Please convey my regards to the elders of the family.

Yours sincerely,
Nishant
