Based on this technology, virtual events have come in trend. Nowadays, virtual seminars, virtual meetings, and virtual ceremonies are also being conducted. Keeping this trend in mind, many educational institutions tend to use this context to test their students’ English comprehension skills.
So, in this session, I am going to teach you to write letters to your friend narrating your experience of celebrating a virtual birthday. Hopefully, you are going to find this session helpful and relevant for your exams.

Dear Ruma,
First I want to thank you for attending the virtual celebration of my birthday recently. I was so glad to see you joining the video room. Through this letter, I want to share my experience of this virtual celebration of my birthday.
I turned 16 this year. I always wanted to celebrate my 16th birthday with all my friends and family members. But, as the unfortunate global pandemic and consequent lockdown imposed, I opted for a virtual ceremony. I got this idea of the virtual ceremony from our online classes. I thought, why can’t we celebrate something virtually just by creating a video room as we do for our online classes! I must say, the idea of this virtual birthday celebration worked quite well. After more than a year, we gathered together just to celebrate something. Besides my friends, many of my family members living in a distant location also joined me in this virtual ceremony.
I was so glad to see everybody. What do you think of that virtual celebration of my birthday? Let me know in your next letter.
Your dear friend,
Bonna

Dear Rajanya,
I have just finished reading the last letter you wrote to me. There you asked me about my experience of attending your virtual birthday celebration last week. Through this letter, I want to share my experience of attending your virtual birthday ceremony.
Honestly, It was my first time attending a virtual celebration. Usually, before joining you in the video chat room, I was a bit hesitant. But after I joined you, it was such an amazing experience. Though I had to face little network issues, still the time we had together was wonderful. After so many days, we gathered together to celebrate someone’s birthday. Honestly, I have missed physically meeting you and all my other friends, but the virtual celebration was no way any less fun.
First I want to thank you for taking such an amazing initiative and inviting me to your birthday celebration. I owe you a gift for this birthday. Hopefully, I can meet you again very soon. Till then, take care.
Your loving friend

Dear Arijit,
It’s been a long time that I haven’t heard from you. How are you doing nowadays? You know, recently I have participated in the virtual youth day ceremony to celebrate the birthday of Swami Vivekananda. In this letter, I want to share this experience with you.
Before attending this virtual ceremony, I hardly had an idea about such virtual celebrations. This event was organised by my school on the occasion of the birthday celebration of Swami Vivekananda. Every year in our school, we celebrate the national youth day on Swamiji’s birthday. As our school is closed this year due to the pandemic, we opted for this virtual ceremony. In this ceremony, first, we expressed our respect and gratitude toward the great Swami Vivekananda. Then a beautiful video presentation was shown on Swamiji’s life on behalf of our school. Many of our teachers delivered short speeches to inspire us with Swamiji’s life. After being continued for 3 hours, the virtual ceremony ended.
To my surprise, I never felt any difference with the physical celebration throughout the entire event. I hope my school will organise such interesting virtual events from now on.
Your best friend,
Samsher Hossein

Dear Sutapa,
In the last letter, you wanted to know my thoughts regarding the good and bad sides of virtual birthday celebrations as I had recently celebrated my birthday virtually. Through this letter, I want to express my opinion about virtual ceremonies.
For me, virtuality is the gift of the digital revolution. With the help of virtuality, we became able to continue our school and coaching classes during the pandemic and lockdowns. During such a hard time, when everybody is getting bored at their home, virtual ceremonies can bring some fresh air to a human’s life. Through this method, we can connect with each other despite sitting in our houses. Due to the virtual celebration of my birthday, I was able to meet my friends and many family members after more than a year. So in my opinion, virtuality will further strengthen the bond of our society.
But virtual celebration can never be an alternative to the traditional mode of celebrations as it lacks lively touches. I think virtual ceremonies have a great future ahead. But it will always exist parallel to the traditional model.
Best wishes and regards,
Pushpendu
