Subject: Violent TV shows are disturbing

Sir,

I am a student in class 11 from Nabinpally High school. I am a regular follower of your esteemed daily writing this letter today in order to express my view on a TV show full of violence and chaos that I have recently watched.

As a student, I watch TV shows in my leisure time to relax my mind. But yesterday it went wrong when I tried to watch this particular TV show that I don’t want to take the name of. The show was full of violence and complete chaos, as well as the storyline, was quite weak. The violence was shown white irrelevant to the story itself. I have recently noticed that search TV shows full of violence have become quite trendy nowadays. I would like to let you know that these types of TV shows do not help to relax the mind of a student at all. Besides, this promotes violence that is a real menace for the entire civilization.

So, in my opinion, search depiction of tremendous violence should be avoided while making TV shows. Through this letter in your resting daily, I would like to request the directors and the creators of these TV shows to take necessary steps to eradicate violence from the TV shows for the sake of society.

Yours Sincerely,

Subject: TV shows full of violence spread negativity

Sir,

Violence in our society is increasing day by day. Entertaining shows such as movies, mega serials, TV shows have a significant role in this social phenomenon. I am a social activist working with an NGO to eradicate the depiction of cruel violence in TV shows. This letter to you intends to express my concern regarding this issue and I will explain how these TV shows full of violence impact our society.

Nowadays, the entertainment industry promotes violence and chaos to a large extent. This phenomenon is noticed not only in India but around the entire world. The primary reason behind this trend is probably these depictions draw a negative picture in the TV shows or movies. And we all know, as per human psychology, the depiction of negativity helps to sell. People get attracted towards negativities such as violence and chaos much more than positivity. Nowadays the storylines of TV shows have become so weak that they have to promote their shows with such scenes. This impacts our society in a very negative way. People get influenced by these actions of violence and many times this violence leads to shaping their mindset.

So, this phenomenon must end immediately. The creators and the producers should be more responsible about the depiction of such cruel scenes in their shows. And most importantly, the audience should be aware and become more careful about manifesting the virtual actions in their real life.

Yours Sincerely,
Rumi Bannerjee

In the 21st century, with the digital revolution, TV shows have become almost like a part of our family. But unfortunately, many programs are only full of violence and chaos. This tendency can severely impact the audiences’ mindset and potential criminals can get ideas to perform the crime. In the recent interrogation by the police of West Bengal, the suspect Bablu de has confessed that he got the methodical idea of murder from a TV show itself. This is not the first incident of the negative influence of TV shows that Kolkata has witnessed. Some of these TV shows depict so much cruelty that it helps to corrupt the minds of people. That’s why the number of innovative violent incidents have increased nowadays.

So, through the column of your esteemed daily, I want to urge the creators and the producers of these TV shows to be more responsible. I would also request the government to take necessary actions in order to stop showing such violent activities in the name of entertainment.

Yours Sincerely,
Aditya Bansal

Subject: Government decided to regulate TV shows

Sir,

I am writing this letter today to your esteemed daily in order to express my view on the recent decision of regulating TV shows taken by The Central Board of film certification.

The Central Board of film certification aka censor board has recently come out with guidelines to regulate and control the TV shows and web series on various OTT platforms.  For a long time, various groups around the country demanded to regulate certain types of TV shows and web series. Recently, many shows have been accused of showing extreme violence and chaos. Sociologists and psychologists have already warned of its negative impact on society. It seems that the government has finally decided to take action to control such violent depiction.

For such a noble cause, a decision is always welcome. But at the same time, this decision has led to many controversies as well. In this case, the government is being accused of trying to suppress free speech through this act. We need to remember free speech is the backbone of democracy. Our constitution guarantees the right to freedom of speech and expression under Article 19. But we also need to remember, the right to freedom of speech and expression comes with reasonable restrictions as well. The negative influences of TV shows full of violence need to be eradicated from society as soon as possible. So, in order to maintain a balance, the government must ensure non-arbitrariness and a transparent & reasonable point of view while reviewing those TV shows.

Yours Sincerely,
Barun Goswami
