Subject: Mosquito-borne disease in area

Sir

I am a fellow resident of the Bhawanipur area, writing this letter in order to find a solution to the severe mosquito-borne disease in our area through esteemed daily.

It has been around a year, our area is facing many severe mosquito-borne diseases. Every now and then someone in some houses is suffering from severe diseases like dengue, malaria, as well as chikungunya. We have even lost a few of our fellow citizens in our area due to the diseases. We suspect the poor sanitation system and poor hygiene in the market nearby are responsible for these diseases. Apart from the diseases, mosquitoes have been a serious problem nowadays, in our daily life.

We have informed the municipal corporation numerous times requesting them to solve the problem. But till now they didn’t provide us with any single concrete solution. That’s why through your esteemed daily I want to bring the issue under the concern of the higher authority.

Subject: Malaria broke out in Panihati

Sir

I am a regular reader of your esteemed daily writing this letter to you to get our problem of mosquito-borne diseases highlighted in order to find a long term solution to it.

I want to let you know but I am a resident of the Panihati area, 24 Parganas(N). It is a large suburban downtown area. Nowadays, the entire Panihati is going through a severe crisis of mosquito-borne diseases like dengue and specifically malaria. In Panihati’s daily life, mosquitoes have always been very common for people. But diseases like this have never been such a phenomenon. In the last few years, the sewage system in Panihati has been deteriorating extensively and probably due to that we are facing such a crisis. Regular cleaning of the drains and extensive public awareness program can help to eradicate this issue.

Unfortunately, the responsible authority of Panihati municipality is so indifferent about this matter that I found it necessary to bring the issue under the kind notice of the higher authority through your newspaper.

Yours sincerely
Ratna Mukherjee

Subject: Dengu broke out in the village

Sir

I am a resident of a remote village of West Bengal in the South Dinajpur district writing this letter to let everybody know that our village is suffering from a severe mosquito-borne disease of dengue in recent times.

It’s been more than 4 months that we are facing this problem of mosquitoes. Every now and then my fellow residents fall sick and some of them die due to a lack of necessary health care facilities. There are no hospitals near our Village and the nearest one is 6 kilometres away. One primary health care centre is nearby but hardly any facility is available there in regard to such diseases.

We villagers have tried the best as far as we could but now it is high time for the government to take some concrete action in order to save us from the diseases. We would also request the government to build a hospital for our village and three other villages nearby.

Yours sincerely
Surajit Kar Purkayastha

Subject: A way forward to dengue in Kolkata

Sir

I am a fellow citizen of the beautiful cultural capital of India, Kolkata as well as a regular follower of your esteemed daily writing this letter to shed some light on the issue of dengue that our loving city is facing currently.

As we can see that our entire city is trying to fight the crisis of dengue, I would like to mention that only the preventive steps and passive actions are not enough to get permanent relief from the crisis. People of the city, as well as the municipal corporation, have to take active steps in every locality of Kolkata in order to ensure future safety from such diseases. In this context, I would like to mention the manholes around the city need to be cleaned regularly and mosquito controlling sprays like Anvil 10+10, bleaching powder need to be applied. Besides, extensive public awareness programs are the need of the hour to control such diseases. The public needs to be proactive about water stagnation and the symptoms of different mosquito-borne diseases in their respective areas.

Yours sincerely
