India Gate was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, an English architect, and the architectural style of the gate is similar to that of memorial arches in Paris and Rome. Another structure, known as the Amar Jawan Jyoti, was built beneath the arch of the Gate after the Bangladesh liberation war, honours the Indian soldiers who died in various wars, fighting for their motherland. Every year on Republic Day, the Prime Minister of India visits India Gate to pay his respects to the fallen soldiers.

It was established in 1921 and unveiled in 1931. When the gate was first established, it was known as the All India War Memorial.

India Gate is one of the most famous places to visit in Delhi. There are manicured gardens and lawns surrounding the monument. People often come and sit on the green lawns with their family and friends and enjoy their time. There are also hawkers who sell snacks to the visitors around India Gate. It is also a good picnic spot for locals during the winter months. During national holidays and other important days, India Gate is beautifully decorated and looks magnificent.
