This visit made me wonder why I shouldn’t do my part to reduce emissions. As a result, I’ve decided not to celebrate Diwali by bursting any kind of crackers, but rather by planting a few more trees in my neighborhood.

Dear friend,
How are you? I am doing well and I hope you are sailing the same boat. I wanted to tell you about how I spent this year’s Diwali at my elder brother’s house in Canada. For me, this Diwali was a one-of-a-kind experience. It was also an environmentally conscious Diwali celebration. As you might know, fireworks are illegal in this country, so this was the first Diwali I didn’t use firecrackers or fireworks.
We decorated the house with flowers, candles, oil lamps, and various kinds of fairy lights. For Diwali, we dressed up in our traditional garb and celebrated with a few friends, great food, and sweets that I brought back from India. This Diwali was a little unique, but I had a great time with my brother.
