Subject: Bad water quality has become a headache of school-life
I am a student of class 10 from Azad Nagar Boys’ High School. Today I am writing this letter to you to let you about an issue we are recently facing regarding the water supply in our school.
In our school, water used to be supplied through a dedicated pipeline directly from the Tala water facility. For containing around 1400 students and 100 teachers and non-teaching staff, the water consumption of our school is quite high compared to other institutions.
But recently as a bridge is being constructed and the dedicated supply line got somewhat damaged due to the construction work, an alternative line has been established by the corporation. But through that alternative line, the water supply in our school is not as regular and adequate as required. Moreover, the water we get through that supply line is often cloudy and even muddy sometimes.
So, through this letter, I want to request you to look into the matter immediately and ensure a proper and quality water supply to our school.

Subject: Sewage overflow has become a norm after every monsoon
I am a resident of the Hridaypur area that comes under Barasat Municipality. This letter to you is intended to explain our problem of sewage overflow that we face every year after the monsoon season.
Sewage is a very important part of public sanitation and quite vital for public hygiene. In our locality, we have to deal with the problem of sewage of overflow every year after the monsoon season. This is due to the irregular cleaning of the sewage and lack of public awareness about sewage usage.
Moreover, the sewage pipes are damaged in man areas and many drains are still uncovered. That’s why after every monsoon our streets and lanes get flooded with dirty sewage water. As side effects, every year this time we have to deal with tremendous problems of mosquitos and other seasonal diseases. We have written to the municipality many times before but no action was taken in this regard. So inevitably, this year is no exception as well.
Now again, I want to earnestly request you take immediate steps to save us from this miserable condition.

Subject: Inadequate garbage bins are leading towards unhygienic sanitation
I live in 55C Nabin Maira Road, Uttarpara, and today writing this letter to you to express my concern over a sanitation problem we are facing in our local due to inadequate garbage bins.
In our locality, we have only 3 dedicated garbage bins installed from the municipality. But the overall population of our area is more than 2000. Compared to the population, the number of garbage bins is not adequate at all. Moreover, there’s no regular garbage collection from the municipality as well.
As a result, we often have to witness the garage bins overflowing. Those garbages make our streets dirty, block the sewage, and most importantly in monsoon season, enter our house with the dirty sewage water. Due to the lack of proper management of those garbage bins, we have to live in miserable conditions. Waste products like sanitary napkins, dressing bandages, etc are primary among those garbages.
So, through this letter, I want to request you to install an adequate number of garbage bins in our area and manage the garbage collection procedure properly.

Subject: Immediate need for a public toilet
I am a resident of Sodepur south station road, writing this letter to you today on behalf of our locality’s people to express our need for a public toilet in our area.
I want to bring under your kind concern that our locality is one of the busiest areas of Sodepur. As the Kalyani Highway is nearby, thousands of cars and people travel through the road adjacent to our locality. But despite this utmost importance of our locality, there is not a single public toilet is available in our area. As a result, most of the people traveling through the road, defecate openly on the side of the road.
Most of the time, those areas are not cleaned often and bad smells come to our houses. This is leading to a very unhygienic condition with time. That’s why a dedicated public toilet has become very necessary for our locality.
Through this letter, I want to request you to look into this matter and build a public toilet beside the main road specifically dedicated to the travelers and restore the public hygiene in our area.
That was all about our presentation on writing official letters to the municipal officers in the context of sanitation. In the session, I have tried to discuss every basic part of public sanitation for four different aspects.
